I refuse to read spoilers, because I like going in to new episodes fresh, so I'll come back to this topic once the episode airs. _________________ --Matt |

| honestly, i expected alot more from how the lost two episodes were, i thought this episode would have some big focus on teds now renewed search for the love of his life, but instead it was just about teds architecture and barney and robin, and there wasnt even much barney and robin going on, they decided to just talk about it later, i mean i liked the way it ended, cuz it showed that next season there will be changes next season, but serriously, i expected a more meaningfull episode for the season finale, the only thing that puts this season finale above last years is that this one had some anticipation |

Overall I really liked this episode.
I was really excited to see a character named "Tracy" (recall the end of the Thanksgiving episode where Ted's chatting up the stripper, she says her real name is Tracy, and then Ted says "And that's how I met your mother", only to reveal a moment later that he's joking). But it seems like the writers just chose that name to keep us guessing since she didn't really play a big role -- but who knows, maybe they're bring her back.
I'm not sure how I feel about Ted going into teaching. Yes, he'd be good at it, but it still feels like he's settling, considering his passion for architectural design. I was surprised to see even his friends encouraging him to effectively give up on designing buildings. It'll be interesting to see how that all comes together.
And, of course, I'm now trying to connect the yellow umbrella (and the St. Patrick's Day party) to the college architecture class.
Guess we'll have to wait until the fall to find out more. _________________ --Matt |

During the Halloween flashback of Marshall preparing to jump, I caught a glimpse of a girl with bright orange hair wearing a big poofy orange tutu. The slutty pumpkin?
Also, I liked Ted paralleling Robin's lines from Little Boys when he called Lily:
"Lily, it's here. It's looking at me." _________________ --Matt |

The way I am, I was
1) Actually worried that someone would stumble making the leap (and yes, it was a literal as well as a figurative leap) - like AH was visibly awkward even though they did their best to cover up her condition and they had a stand-in do the jump (and it was certainly not at the height we were supposed to imagine),
2) Wondering how they were going to get back to their own side once they had crossed. Either there was a fire escape, the access door to the roof was unlocked and they could sneak out, or they had some explaining to do to the tenants.
Like I said, that's the way I am.

I guess Ted might be a good teacher. At any rate he doesn't seem to mind talking to people from a presumably superior position.

I actually do wonder if the show's writers had all the dots connected when they wrote this episode. Not that they won't all be connected, just that I think that the way these things go with hurried schedules and all the continuity sometimes needs to be patched later.
Oh, and I certainly wouldn't mind actually seeing the Slutty Pumpkin. I wonder if she is a redhead, I don't remember if Ted said anything about that in the episode (it was SO long ago and I don't have the DVDs yet.) |

I was thinking the same thing! What happens if somebody slips?!
Then: How do they get back? The balcony over there looked like a private rooftop patio as opposed to a communal shared space, so what happens if the owners catch them over there?

I've wondered that myself. How much of the plot is planned in advance, and how much are the writers just "winging it"? _________________ --Matt |

| Speaking of continuity, what did you think about the goat? I've looked at some forums and that story seems to have fallen flat with many fans. I don't know, my feeling is that it was built up over a long period of time without the writers having any definite or great ideas about where they'd go with it. |

I was so disappointed by the goat story. My reaction: "Really? That's it? Ted gets mauled by a goat?... On his birthday?" Ok... _________________

Yeah, the goat story was really an anticlimax. But I liked how they brought back the song " Murder Train" by the Foreskins for the second time . _________________ "Marshall, my sensors indicate that your Pecan Sandies levels are DANGEROUSLY low." |

Always a classic. Especially when Marshall is shown beating the crap out of his brothers. _________________
